An outstanding college in every aspect, Cardinal Newman is one of the highest performing Sixth Form Colleges nationally for Value Added. However, we are as proud of our students’ social, cultural and pastoral achievements as we are of their outstanding exam results. We are a distinctive Catholic Sixth Form College located in the centre of Preston, which welcomes colleagues and students of all faiths, and which has a real feeling of community and is a happy, thriving and highly successful college.

Following the introduction of a new teaching spine in 2016 whereby incremental rises are linked to performance, we are proud to say that no member of teaching staff had an increment withheld during the academic year 20/21. We believe in supporting staff successes and incremental rises are a key part of this. As such, we do our up most to work together to avoid withholding the rises wherever possible.
