Job overview

Now is an exciting time to join our dedicated staff body. As a member of staff at a fast paced, forward thinking organisation, you will genuinely be changing lives. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Academy while working alongside an exceptionally talented group of teachers and leaders. If you can offer an absolute focus on raising educational standards coupled with an infectious passion for learning and success, then Westminster Academy would like to hear from you.

Unlike other schools, we introduce all students to core IT skills in Key Stage 3. This enables students to understand the key areas of the subject ahead of their Key Stage 4 options through studying an exciting and engaging Google based course of study. All students receive a Chromebook in Year 7, allowing for exciting, dynamic teaching and learning from the first lesson. As a result of this creative planning and willingness to embrace technology Westminster Academy was well placed to deal with the recent school closures which has enabled a seamless transition to highly effective online teaching and learning.

At Key Stage 4 we currently offer GCSE Computer Science alongside the Level 2 BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology. There is the opportunity to grow the subject into the Sixth Form which represents a real opportunity for a teacher to help shape the future of the subject area.

Computer Science and Digital IT are extremely popular subjects within the school with an outstanding track record of success. The department is well resourced and is undertaking an exciting refurbishment to further enhance the delivery of the subject. Our central location enables the faculty to access an extensive network of contacts which enables real opportunities for students to find engaging opportunities in the world of IT and enterprise.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and an excellent classroom practitioner who is committed to student success and development. Experience of teaching computing based subjects such as Computer Science and IT is essential, whilst experience of delivering BTEC courses would be an advantage. They should have a passion that inspires our students. Most importantly, there is a real opportunity to contribute to a highly successful team that is making a difference.

What we offer:

● An innovative educational concept

● An excellent programme of continuing professional development

● The opportunity to develop personally and professionally

● The chance to shape the future of the subject

● A real commitment to staff well being including offering access to the local gym, Perkbox, and weekly fitness sessions
