From April, we need an outstanding, competent, enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated teacher of Computing, to join a hugely popular, vibrant and innovative Department with outstanding results to take on the role of Teacher of Computer Science.
The ideal candidate will have superb subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Computer Science and working with students at all levels. Having taught Computer Science is preferred, but not essential. The successful candidate would be part of a successful and growing department and will have opportunities to teach students from Year 7 to Year 12. We have state of the art computer suites, including touchscreen Dell 360 Vostros, Raspberry Pi’s and Lego Mindstorms. We deliver a core Computing programme, with over 100 students choosing to take the subject at GCSE and a well-established A-level in both Computing and Electronics.
Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is a very successful and very proud 11-18 school with 1,762 students on roll including 322 students in our very popular and successful Sixth Form. Royal Wootton Bassett has appeared in The Times Top 20 Secondary Schools in the South West. It is geographically situated in a pleasant location with Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds all within commuting distance.
In December 2010, the school was awarded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted. They described our students as “…an absolute delight.” and “in every area of the School they carry out exemplary practice.” In November 2013, the Academy was again awarded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted where they stated “Around the school, students are polite and courteous to each other, to members of staff and to visitors. Students listen attentively in lessons, and almost always respond rapidly to teachers’ instructions”. As far as we are aware, Royal Wootton Bassett is the only school in the country to be awarded this prestigious accolade in succession.
This appointment is subject to the Academy receiving two satisfactory references, one of which will include your current/last employer. Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is committed to Safer Recruitment and Safeguarding and this appointment is also subject to you providing relevant documents to the Academy proving your legal right to work in the UK, clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service of an enhanced check for regulated activity, confirmation of your professional qualifications and confirmation of your QTS status.

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is part of the Ascend Learning Trust and shares a vision based on mutual respect, support and encouragement to bring out the best in people. At RWBA we recognise that the quality of learning, teaching and behaviour are inseparable issues and that the vast majority of our pupils act in a sensible and appropriate manner and have a keen desire to learn.
It is important, however, that positive standards of behaviour are promoted to all in a manner which is easily understood to which pupils, parents and staff all subscribe. Good order and discipline are essential to the provision of high standards of education.
There are two underlying principles behind this policy:
1. An acknowledgement that we all have rights, and that with such rights come responsibilities to ourselves, others
and the School.
2. To be part of a community in which we treat others as we would wish to be treated.
Values and Aims at Wootton Bassett School

• the desirability of all pupils taking an increasing responsibility for their own learning, decision making and actions.
• encouraging the contributions of all staff.
• the value of links with the wider community.
• the principles and practice of equal opportunity.
We will seek to . . .
• support and guide pupils in formulating and achieving realistic and appropriate personal development plans.
• achieve a smooth progression through and beyond the various phases of formal education.
• promote activities, which provide interaction between the school, business and the community for the enrichment of
pupils, curriculum and the community itself.
• foster the involvement of parents for the benefit of pupil development.
• support an organisational and management structure that fosters effective curriculum development and delivery,
facilitates communication and involves governors, staff, pupils and parents in the development of the school.
• encourage and guide staff in broadening their perspectives, framing realistic career targets and supporting their
achievement through stated school development plans.
