Longfield Academy has a rare opportunity for a talented and creative Teacher of Design & Technology to join our department from Easter 2019.  This is a unique role as we offer the chance to teach predominantly Food Technology across all key stages, an ideal role for a practitioner in this remit.  We welcome applications from candidates who want to join a forward thinking and supportive team of professionals, offering fantastic resources and facilities.  Offered on a maternity cover contract in the first instance, we can offer a full or part-time contract (minimum 3 days per week) depending on our successful candidate's preference.

We know that being a teacher can be both rewarding and challenging in equal measures and you probably love inspiring young adults and stimulating their curiosity.  At Longfield Academy, we give our teachers the freedom to innovate and inspire our students as we know this is a crucial ingredient to driving great learning outcomes.  Please consult the teaching Job Description for more information.

Working at Longfield Academy:  Longfield Academy is a friendly and supportive working environment with innovation and collaboration at the heart of everything we do. The academy opened in September 2008, replacing Axton Chase School. Since then student outcomes have rapidly improved. In May 2018, we were judged to be 'Good' with an 'Outstanding' Sixth Form provision -  a well-deserved accolade.   Our school is heavily oversubscribed in Year 7 and has a large and growing Sixth Form. In recent years, Longfield Academy moved into its brand new £25m building with state of the art facilities for learning across all subject areas.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust:  As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have the opportunity to collaborate with your peers and share best practice at Academy level and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.  You will also be expected to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation. As part of the 'cluster' structure, all of our academies are grouped together in key geographical area to enable them to be able to support each other and share resources.  It also offers staff access to career opportunities across the Trust allowing them to progress their career without switching employers.   For more information on working for the Trust please visit our careers pages.

Diversity at our core:  As a Trust we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust.
