Job overview

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, specialist Dance Teacher, able to teach the subject at GCSE and A level. Dance is a popular subject in the School and there is an annual dance production. In recognition of the high quality of dance education in the School, we are among a small number of schools that have been invited to form a partnership with the Royal Academy of Dance for teacher training.

The Dance Department is part of the Movement and Performing Arts Faculty. At the present time, Dance is taught within PE at KS3 and it is a thriving subject at GCSE level. Alongside this, the extra-curricular and enrichment offered in Dance is comprehensive, with weekly Dance clubs at lunchtime and after school. The Department is well resourced with a purpose built Dance Studio.

Knowledge of the new AQA specifications for GCSE and A level are essential. Also a secure knowledge of the Dance Anthology and how this can be delivered in a holistic way through GCSE dance lessons.  At A level, knowledge of the compulsory area of study and set work is essential, as well as knowledge of American Jazz genre would be desirable. The person appointed must be prepared to teach another subject such as Drama and/or PE.

An application form and job description is available on our website via the apply button.

Please note only applications submitted on the School’s application form will be considered.

Darrick Wood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils.

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
