Teacher of Drama

Required for September 2021, an inspirational and dedicated teacher to join our Drama Department in a school that admits 10% through aptitude for performing arts and sport.

You will have the ability to teach Drama at KS3, 4 and 5 and be familiar with the requirements of both GCSE Drama and BTEC Performing Arts at both Level 2 and 3. We are looking for a colleague committed to giving our students the best curricular and extra-curricular experiences to enhance their learning.

The Drama department has a strong inclusive ethos, which is extended to all students and we strive towards inspirational work.  Our Sixth Form Performing Arts Academy and our Junior Performing Arts Academy are distinctive features of the department.  We have an extensive extra-curricular programme in which the successful candidate will be expected to play a full part, including the opportunity to get involved in directing performances and being involved in the academies and in summer schools.

Shenfield High School retained its “GOOD” Ofsted rating in November 2018.  We are a co-educational 11-18 academy school with a commitment to high standards, a holistic approach, student wellbeing and learning for life.  We expect all staff to share this philosophy.  Shenfield is conveniently and pleasantly situated close to Shenfield mainline station to London Liverpool Street - and what will be the eastern terminus of Crossrail’s Elizabeth Line - the towns of Brentwood and Billericay and to the Essex countryside.

This post is suitable for new entrants to the profession as well as more experienced teachers. We have an excellent NQT induction programme and a commitment to professional development for all staff.

An informal discussion with the Headteacher can be arranged by contacting the Head’s PA, Mrs Christine Watson: c.watson@shenfield.essex.sch.uk

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share in this commitment. This appointment is subject to an enhanced Disclosure check and positive references.
