Oryx International School is owned by Qatar Airways and operated by Orbital Education for the children of Qatar Airways employees. The original school opened its doors in 2016 and has now relocated to a new purpose built, state of the art school on the south side of the city.

The Job

Teacher of EAL

EAL is the main focus of our teaching and learning strategy in school. Currently we have 1 full time and 1-part time secondary staff supporting students and teachers, and all teachers are trained in EAL techniques. EAL staff provide 1:1 and small group intervention and support programmes as directed by the SENCO. They also provide in class support where required and are responsible for ensuring that students receive the proper level of support. 

Several of our students have slight to moderate learning needs and a very small number have more challenging needs. 3 full time SEN teachers are supported by a full time School Counsellor to provide support and intervention as necessary. They are also responsible for providing IEPs and liaising with parents and outside agencies with regard to appropriate evaluations of needs in order to fully support each student. SEN/EAL staff will work from a specially built Achievement Centre located in the secondary school. 

All classrooms have the latest Interactive Touch Screen Boards and easy access to carefully landscaped indoor and outdoor play areas.

Oryx International School is a unique project conceptualised by Qatar Airways and Orbital Education, creating a joint venture between a world-renowned, multi-billion dollar turnover airline and a prestigious group of international schools. The objective of this £70 million project is to satisfy the demand for premium quality British style education for the children of Qatar Airways employees in Doha, Qatar.

The school has a six form capacity from Foundation Stage 1 up to Year 13 and is already almost full in the Primary year groups and most Secondary year groups have four form entry.
