The Ladder School is looking to recruit an outstanding Teacher of English to join our team as soon as possible. 


The Ladder School is an academy that is part of The Mercian Trust. The Ladder School is a Free School set up by the trust to offer effective alternative provision for the young people of Walsall.


Based on the edge of Walsall town centre there are excellent links to the local and wider community. The Ladder School will operate under a commissioning model, where local mainstream schools will identify students at risk of permanent exclusion and will move them to The Ladder School, to reform their behaviour and enable them to be successful in their future. 


Teachers must be able to deliver their chosen subject up to GCSE. Applications from those with or without Qualified Teacher Status will be considered for this posts, however teaching experience is essential. 


This is a part time post and will be split across five mornings. Additional hours may be available for an exceptional candidate. 


Preference will be given to those staff that can teach a range of subjects, we would be particularly interested in someone who can deliver a vocational subject up to Level 2 alongside English.   


Staff should have a real interested in the pastoral aspects of education and should be outstanding in managing challenging behaviours.

The Ladder School was established in January 2019 and has now moved in to a brand new, purpose-built building based on the edge of Walsall town centre where there are excellent links to the local and wider community. The Ladder School operates under a commissioning model, where local mainstream schools identify students at risk of permanent exclusion and moves them to The Ladder School, to transform their behaviour and enable them to be successful in their future. These students have struggled in mainstream education environments and benefit significantly from the smaller class sizes and additional support on offer at The Ladder School.
