We are looking for a Teacher of English to join our team at Fraserburgh Academy. The English department regularly has professional writers visiting the school to discuss their work with pupils. Students at Fraserburgh Academy have won National Awards in fiction writing. School performances have been enhanced from students input into writing dialogue for musical theatre shows. There is a thriving Shakespeare Group, Debate Team and Media Studies activities, all enriching the learning of the written and spoken word. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Relocating to such an outstanding location for the next exciting stage of your career is easier than you might think. You will receive an upfront payment of £5k settling in allowance as part of an overall relocation package of up to £8k (subject to criteria).

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Fraserburgh Academy is a six-year Comprehensive Community School situated half a mile from Fraserburgh town centre. The Academy draws most of its pupils from its associated primary schools, namely, Crimond, Fraserburgh North School, Fraserburgh South Park, St Andrews Fraserburgh, Inverallochy, Lochpots, Rathen, Rosehearty, Sandhaven, St Combs and Tyrie.

The current roll is approximately 1200 making Fraserburgh Academy one of the largest secondary schools in Aberdeenshire. This is expected to rise over the next few years if new housing developments proposed within the area go ahead.

We are at the heart of the local community, and can offer you the chance to continue be pivotal in building relationships with the business community in order to create an even tighter bond. Staff and pupils alike enjoy a positive attitude to school, which creates an exciting, motivating atmosphere for all.
