Job overview

Advert for the vacancy of Teacher of English and English as an Additional Language (0.7)

Cardiff Sixth Form College is one of the UK’s leading independent schools. Bringing together some of the most talented students from around the world, we provide a stimulating environment in which to study. Students bring an enthusiasm and focus to their studies and are hungry for knowledge and success. The college was set up in 2004 as a small private tutorial centre and has grown to become a vibrant school which is consistently recognised as the ‘Number 1 Sixth Form College in the UK’. We have three boarding houses on two sites with a capacity of over 300 students representing 25 different nationalities.

A passionate and well qualified teacher of English and English as an Additional Language (EAL) is required for the 2022/23 academic year to join the number one, top performing independent co-ed boarding college in the UK. We offer relatively small class sizes, a teaching environment where the students will challenge you intellectually and provide for an all-round enjoyable teaching experience. The successful candidate will deliver EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and Edexcel IGCSE English Language and Literature.  EAP is a bespoke course which is designed to improve our students' literacy in order to achieve the IELTS levels demanded by many of the top English-speaking universities. In lessons, students participate in speaking, listening, writing and reading tasks which are based on the IELTS assessment materials and the literacy skills needed in core A-levels.

Candidates with all levels of teaching experience will be considered. Candidates must hold a degree or degree equivalent, in the relevant field. A willingness to take an active part in the wider life of a busy boarding and day school is essential. We have our own salary scale that is above the national average.

Interviews will be taking place during the week commencing 06 June 2022.

Cardiff Sixth Form College is an Equal Opportunities Employer and is caring and reasonable in its approach to all staff. We encourage applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds to join our wonderful college. Cardiff Sixth Form College is committed to its responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students in line with government recommendations and policies. An enhanced level DBS will be required.

**Fully completed CSFC applications forms are required in order to qualify for consideration. CV's will not be considered (they may be only be attached as supporting evidence).**

**Agency introductions will NOT be considered, as applicants are to apply directly.**
