Required from September 2018/January 2019, a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher of English to join a very successful English department within this high-achieving school. The successful candidate will teach English across KS3/4 depending on experience.
The English department is a mutually supportive, highly cohesive and exciting place to work. This post would suit someone who feels they could make a positive contribution to such a department.
All classrooms are fully equipped with interactive whiteboards and sound systems. The school benefits from a purpose-built library.
The department has developed an exciting range of extra-curricular activities for all year groups, and is always keen to embrace fresh ideas from new staff. We actively promote events such as World Book Day and National Poetry Day. KS3 students participate in the Southern Schools Book Award each year.
As an addition to this teaching role, we are seeking to appoint a KS3 coordinator. The role has the following responsibilities:
Curriculum overview of Key Stage 3 English, including the management of schemes of work and resources.
Overview of the progress being made by Years 7, 8 and 9. This will include the management of data and producing year group analyses for each of the year groups.
Leading the implementation of the Key Stage 3 assessment process, including producing sample booklets, training staff and carrying out book scrutinies to ensure consistency across the team.
