The school is at an exciting stage of development, having just opened phase one of our new buildings housing a contemporary new Sixth Form facility, Student Café and number of well-equipped classrooms, with Phase 2 opening in September 2018. We are seeking to appoint a motivated and talented teacher of English and Media Studies who will become part of our successful team. With significant curriculum change in recent years in English, we have embraced and carefully planned for the effective delivery of our courses; we would welcome your contribution to this exciting time in our subject area. The English team is incredibly enthusiastic, driven and collaborative. Our students are hardworking and have a really positive attitude to learning.
Our academic success speaks for itself; Tolworth students achieve high academic standards and make very good progress with well above average results. In 2017, 87% of students left with a grade 4-9 in an English GCSE and we were delighted to see that over a third of our grades were 7-9 in English Literature. We follow a rigorous and challenging curriculum and aim to extend and inspire students with literature and opportunities for creativity. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who is experienced in teaching at Key Stage 5, preferably with experience of teaching Media.
