The position

St. Lawrence College, Athens, Greece is currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced teacher of English as an Additional Language  to be part of the EAL department in the school. 

Brief Job description

The successful applicant will be responsible for the teaching of English as an Additional Language to pupils in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. He or she will work closely with the current Head of Department in all areas of the planning and delivery of English as an Additional Language, including strengthening the schemes of work, creating and sourcing teaching aids, developing and implementing assessment tasks, and supporting pupils as they move from their EAL programme into the full British educational programme that the majority of pupils are following at St. Lawrence College.

St. Lawrence College places great importance on the excellence of the delivery of pastoral care and on the provision of extracurricular activities for all pupils. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to these vital spheres of British education fully and with enthusiasm. 

Brief person specification

In addition to appropriate teaching qualifications and, preferably, experience teaching English as an Additional Language in a British school, the successful applicant will possess outstanding subject knowledge, excellent communication skills and the stamina to realise continual improvement of the teaching of this subject. 

The successful applicant will be available to work from 1st September 2018.

Remuneration

Our new teacher of English as an Additional Language will receive a competitive salary by standards of British education in Greece plus Christmas, Easter and summer bonuses and other benefits. The successful applicant will work alongside friendly and supportive colleagues across our 20-acre school campus set in the stunning natural surroundings of the suburbs in southern Athens.
