Values and vision

Longfield Academy of Sport has built a reputation for academic achievement, strong pastoral care and excellent behaviour. The strong relationships the school shares with parents and carers ensure that pupils are supported to be successful in all areas of school life. There is a focus on pupils' core skills, including leadership, communication and team work.

Sport, fitness and health are essential elements of life at Longfield. All core PE lessons in Years 7-11 involve two different sporting activities per week, over an eight-week block of work. During these lessons, pupils develop their knowledge, ability and understanding in a range of sports and physical activities, from football to swimming.

Ofsted report

“The much improved teaching is ensuring a more regular pattern of good progress for the most able students. Increasingly, activities incorporate higher order challenges which encourage students to think critically and unravel problems or dilemmas. Consequently, their achievement is rising quickly and this is reflected in the increased proportions of students who are on target to attain A* or A grades.”
