Your future learning environment was opened in 1993 Guru Nanak Sikh College at the request of the community by our founder Sant Baba Amar Singh Ji. His vision is that through education we can eradicate poverty and ignorance. The Academy is dedicated to educating and supporting students and staff to better their outcomes and continue lifelong learning by "providing an outstanding learning environment which challenges us all, staff and pupils, to achieve our full potential and to share our successes, knowledge and skills with the local, national and global community". The Academy is an oversubscribed all through Academy in Hayes, Hillingdon. It currently has a 6 form of entry in the Secondary Phase with a Sixth Form and 2 form of entry in the Primary Phase. Due to the growing needs of the curriculum, we are looking for an enthusiastic Teacher of English for September 2020.

Our 2019 results show above national average results for English GCSE and an overall positive Value added score of +0.7 at GCSE level.

Thanks to our enthusiastic leaders within the English team, the department is having a resurgence and they are looking to appoint two teachers to join their team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to create and design innovative lessons to stretch and challenge our learners. English at GNSA has been a crucial door into the wider skills of access to the curriculum at large. The subject enjoys a growing reputation among students, with a syllabus at KS3 that focuses on the key skills of reading and writing. Within KS3 students also have the opportunity to enhance their confidence in Oracy to help develop the foundation for the skills needed at KS4.

The KS4 syllabus is AQA, which offers a good balance between Language and Literature. Students will be equipped with the necessary skills of critical thinking, analysis of the rich language and the ability to write imaginatively and creatively. This will enable students to work independently, preparing them for A-Level Literature.

Ideally this role will suit either an experienced teacher looking to cement their knowledge and share good practice within a developing team, or an NQT, or an aspiring teacher willing to deliver and take the chance to jump straight into the learning environment.

The department is currently expanding its work within Oracy and A-level. The candidate will be expected to offer a broad range of skills in English delivery across the curriculum and within the framework of intervention and literacy support.
