Job overview

Give our students a brighter future.

At Westbourne Academy, we do whatever it takes to give students a better future. At the heart of Academy Transformation Trust, our mission is to create opportunity – and as our latest Ofsted inspection noted, “a far higher proportion of pupils – significantly above the national average – now move on to employment or higher education”. With close involvement from parents and the local community, we pride ourselves on our diversity and offer exceptional pastoral provision to create well rounded, fully developed young adults. You can join us in our mission and help us become Outstanding.

Improving student output at every level, you will shape a curriculum that is genuinely exciting and involving. We will give you all the support you need to realise your full potential as you do the same for our pupils, and you will go the extra mile every day to overcome potential barriers to learning.

As an experienced and qualified teacher, you will bring a strong track record at GCSE level and broad knowledge of the KS3 curriculum. Above all, you will have an insatiable appetite for learning, boundless passion for your subject and the imagination and insight to place our teaching and learning at the forefront of innovation.

To apply now, please visit www.academytransformationtrust.co.uk/vacancies and complete the online form.

Closing date: 21 January 2019.

Academy Transformation Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant must undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and reference checks.

About Westbourne Academy

Westbourne is a calm and happy school. We try not to take ourselves too seriously but know that preparing young people for the adult world is an important undertaking. Since opening, attitudes, aspirations and expectations have been transformed. We believe that our circumstances are quite unique and, therefore, that we can make a massive difference to the students we serve.

Currently we have around 1010 students. Many of our students do not have the easiest backgrounds and we are determined to ensure that we remove as many barriers to learning as possible. Around 30% of our students come from a disadvantaged background. We are delighted that Ipswich has been deemed an opportunity area for the DFe and look forward to taking an active part in this initiative to tackle disadvantage.

We also have the pleasure of 30% of our students speaking English as an additional language and value the cultural diversity they bring.
