Your opportunity

We are looking for an resourceful, dedicated Teacher of English to play a crucial role in developing and adapting the classroom curriculum to meet students’ needs, ensuring that students develop a depth and love of the subject as well as monitoring and supporting the development of students as both teacher and tutor.

At Chobham Academy, the English Department is a creative and tenacious department lead by Director of Learning, Rupert Munck, who also oversees the progress and resources of Key stage 4. Mr Munck is supported by KS5 lead and head of Sixth Form progress, Louis Boyd and KS3 Leader Matthew Ward. The Department is an outstanding department held in high esteem in the Academy. The Department is always keen to grow and develop their Teaching and Learning practice and put students at the centre of every pedagogical choice. We work hard to make sure that our students love our subject and aspire to achieve their very best.

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, during this period it is our intention to continue with critical recruitment for key positions starting in September 2020. In place of academy interviews, alternative options will be offered so that no one is at a disadvantage, and applicants should expect telephone or virtual interviews, with the possibility of onsite academy interviews only in special cases. We want to reassure applicants that effective measures have been implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing whilst on academy premises.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students.
  • Support the subject area as appropriate and provide direction for Subject Lead and teachers.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
  • Provide a motivating and structured learning experience, which will provide students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute significantly to raising standards of students' attainment as a teacher and form tutor.
