“President Kennedy School is one of the top performing non-selective state schools in England” David Laws, MP Minister of State for Schools

This is an exciting time to join President Kennedy School, part of The Futures Trust. The Trust is passionate about building brighter futures for the young people who attend its schools, and is a rapidly growing and successful Multi Academy Trust driven by a set of compelling values:

1. Learners First - teachers and leaders totally focused upon the educational benefit of our students

2. It’s about learning - students, teachers and leaders focused upon developing and improving their learning

3. No Barriers - no excuses, only support to ensure students, teachers and leaders maximise their achievement

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Teacher of English who has the ability and capacity to join our outstanding English department. The English department benefits from regular collaboration with our other Futures Trust secondary and primary schools. As a qualified English teacher, you will possess a passion for raising achievement in KS4 and an aptitude for overcoming barriers to learning. Dynamic and creative, you will be an excellent team player able to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues. This post offers an excellent foundation for progression to the Subject Leadership.

Staff at President Kennedy School are supported by experienced senior teachers who generously commit their time to train and develop colleagues.  The school offers focused CPDL for all staff based on their future aspirations, and has a proven track record of developing excellent teachers and leaders. President Kennedy School has recently been awarded Teaching School status which provides further opportunities for collaboration and CPDL with other secondary schools within the Teaching School Alliance.

At President Kennedy School everything we do is focused on Building Brighter Futures for our students, our staff and our community. We are an outstanding school with excellent examination results year after year.  English is one of the two most successful departments in the school. The English department at President Kennedy School is outstanding. Our examination results, both at A- Level and GCSE, are outstanding for both attainment and progress. For English Literature GCSE we have been ranked in the top 1% of schools for progress in the UK, with several of our students recently achieving the new grade 9 in the reformed GCSE courses. Our students make significantly more progress in English Language than similar students nationally, again with very top grades achieved.

In July 2013 the school was judged outstanding in all areas by Ofsted. The school is heavily over-subscribed and moved into a brand new building in September 2017.

The school's core values centre around the students and learning coming first, and no barriers to achievement. It endeavours to achieve its aims by encouraging a caring, fair and professional environment where each and every student is equally valued, and a high level of academic achievement where students respect each other and take pride in themselves and the school.
