An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Film studies Teacher to join our Academic team at the Joseph Wright Centre.

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated professional who is ready to deliver an outstanding experience to our students. 

You will need to have teaching experience in Film studies or an industry related area and be a forward thinking and innovative teacher with students at the heart of your work.  You will be required to have knowledge and experience of teaching the following aspects of the A Level Film Studies curriculum.

Making a Short Film

We are looking for a talented teacher who possesses a drive to help students succeed, as well as a person with vision and creativity to enhance success in these areas. The successful candidate will need to prove that they are highly effective at planning a programme of study that has outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. As well as the ability to demonstrate integration of the appropriate and inspirational curriculum resources including ILT into lessons and plan delivery so that schemes of work and lesson plans support achievement. Undertaking ongoing high-quality formative and summative assessment of learners work both in class and through regular out of class activity to monitor progress, you must aim to ensure that students succeed through progress reviews and initiate and respond to new curriculum developments and plan resources as appropriate.

Experience of working in the Media industry is desirable.

In addition to the requirements detailed above, candidates will need a recognised teaching qualification or the willingness to work towards one and achieved a Level 2 or equivalent qualification in maths and English.  Please see the job description for more details.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
