Teacher of Food and Cookery

From September 2018

Are you passionate about helping young people to learn about Food? We are looking for an inspirational teacher to join our team of strong, enthusiastic and hard working teachers. Food is taught within the Faculty of Technology and Enterprise, and it is well organised, popular and successful. All pupils study DT at KS3 throughout our rotations where they complete study in Food, Textiles and Product Design. Our current curriculum offer is engaging and provides challenge for students of all abilities. Students begin their options choices in Year 9 with a foundation year to build skills, develop confidence and further enrich the curriculum in subject areas before starting their KS4 courses. At KS4, we offer vocational courses which are focussed heavily on practical skills.

We will be flexible to recruit the right person. Whether you have experience or are new to the profession, we’d like to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity for a Newly Qualified teacher looking to work in a young team and contribute to a changing curriculum. Leaders within the faculty have been nurtured since joining the school and we are keen to develop the right candidate in the future. We will be pleased to discuss your interests and ambitions.

We take pride in leading happy, supportive teams with a strong emphasis on professional learning. We will help you to achieve real excellence in your work. You will have a well resourced teaching base (we have a separate kitchen and a dedicated Food Theory room) and technician support, and you will teach to KS4. We offer candidates the opportunities to teach outside their specialist area to widen their knowledge and skill, particularly within Design Technology.

Situated five miles east of Oxford Wheatley Park School is a highly successful mixed 11 - 18 academy and proud member of the River Learning Trust.
