Job overview

This is a unique opportunity to join the Food Department at Tomlinscote School. We are seeking an outstanding teacher who is enthusiastic and passionate and is able to continue to drive the successful department forward. The position is to support students within KS3 Food and Technology, KS4 GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition and KS4 Level 1/2 Hospitality & Catering.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to deliver inspiring lessons, be part of creating an exceptional place of learning and help build on the excellent current standards of the department in this ‘outstanding’ school.

Teaching experience will not be a determining factor, as we welcome applications from NQTs as well as more experienced candidates. We will develop every staff member that joins our team, providing one-to-one support, coaching and mentoring and access to extensive professional development.

The applicant must hold or be working towards a QTS (or equivalent) and have a relevant undergraduate degree to be considered for this post. We expect all staff to undertake a pastoral role as a form tutor.

Tomlinscote is a highly successful, over-subscribed mixed comprehensive school of approximately 1500 students. Our staff enjoy working here because our standards, facilities and staff well-being are excellent.

Our students are a pleasure to teach and make excellent progress as shown by our positive examination data. Food is a particularly strong subject; in 2019, 95% achieved a Grade 4 or higher in Food Preparation and Nutrition and 90% achieved a Level 2 Pass or higher in Hospitality and Catering.

All Tomlinscote students and staff have their own iPad to enhance learning inside and outside of the classroom.
