Winchester College seeks to appoint a well-qualified and dynamic teacher of French (and Russian) for September 2019. 

The ideal candidate will have the experience and ability to teach a combination of French to Pre-U with Russian to GCSE or Pre-U level.  They will join a large, forward-looking department, and will be enthusiastic about the promotion and development of modern languages.

The College, which was founded in 1382, is a boys’ boarding school of 700 pupils. We are committed to the highest standards of academic excellence, first-class pastoral care and the maintenance of a broad and balanced liberal education for all our pupils. Through our non-examined general cultural studies programme (known as Div) we offer an approach to education which develops an intelligent and critical awareness of the world, strong communication skills and a confident ability to think independently and with originality. 

This full-time post will suit an ambitious teacher of the highest quality who will relish the challenge of working with able and articulate pupils in a historic site of unparalleled architectural beauty in the heart of Winchester. 

All our full-time teachers are expected to act as tutors in one of the eleven boarding houses, thereby making a significant contribution to the pastoral care of our pupils. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute in some capacity to our sports and co-curricular programme.

Situated in Hampshire, Winchester College is an independent, secondary school for pupils aged between 13 and 18. The school was founded in 1382 by the Bishop of Winchester, William of Wykeham. It was expanded in the 19th Century to accommodate the popular demand in the local society. At the moment, there are over 700 pupils enrolled at the boarding school.
