Job overview

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, positive references and stringent safer recruitment protocols.  The suitability of the candidate will be assessed throughout the recruitment process

Our successful, supportive and motivated MFL department is seeking a committed and enthusiastic teacher of French with German. The ideal candidate should be resourceful, dedicated, able to work collaboratively, and have excellent subject knowledge. The ability to teach German to KS4 would be an advantage.

The MFL team teaches the full range of ability for pupils aged 11 to 18. We are very proud of all the languages, experiences and opportunities that are offered to our pupils and we recognise the value this subject brings to the learning experience of every student in the school. We also have Foreign Language Assistants to support each language.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who has a passion for languages and wants to inspire students to enjoy language learning and achieve their full potential. We would welcome applications from both ECTs and more experienced teachers.  For an established and experienced candidate there is also a possibility of a TLR within the MFL Department being available.

We expect that you will have evidence of excellent classroom practice and high expectations of pupil attainment and, if  overseas trained,   we would need evidence that your professional qualifications are recognised in the UK  by  UK ENIC  &/or  the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).

St Bonaventure’s is a popular provider of education within the London Borough of Newham and we are oversubscribed. We are welcoming, friendly and inclusive.

We are part of the successful and highly-respected Agnus Dei Catholic School Alliance.

We have  a long and distinguished history of educating boys, aged 11-18, in the East End of London.

Our thriving co-educational 6th Form is ethnically and religiously diverse, attracting students from across many local schools.

St Bonaventure's is recognised by the DfE, Ofsted, SSAT and the Teaching School Council for our investment in improving student life chances and the development of our staff.

We believe that our students have an entitlement to the very best education, with high expectations for all in our community.

We Offer:

  • An opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, inspired and motivated team where staff genuinely feel valued and cared for.
  • A minimum of 20% PPA for all teaching staff.
  • A teacher friendly marking policy.
  • No written reports to parents.
  • A strong commitment to your professional development and career management.
  • We will provide top quality CPD opportunities for you.
  • We will encourage you to provide CPD to others; within our school, our borough, our diocese, our alliance and beyond.
  • A school with outstanding teaching and behaviour for learning, with which all our staff and the wider community feel proud to be associated.
  • All new teaching staff receive a Chromebook.
  • Free refreshments for all staff.
  • St Bonaventure's School is only a short bus ride away from the site of the 2012 Olympics and the Olympic village and Westfield Shopping Centre in the vibrant area of Stratford.  Stratford is a transport hub with easy access to Central London which will be further enhanced by Crossrail.  This is an exciting area to live and work in.

Closing Date - 23rd May 2022 at  9am

Interviews will be held at the school on Wednesday 25th May 2022

We may call applicants for an interview before the deadline date if we are especially interested in their application
