The Regent Secondary School, Abuja, is a leading day and boarding school in the Federal Capital of Nigeria. Educating 360 students aged between 11 and 16, the school is part of the Regent family of schools also comprising a large primary school and a Sixth Form college, each on its own campus and with its own Principal.

The Regent Secondary School occupies a large and pleasant site near the centre of the city. Buildings are purpose-built, modern and very well equipped with facilities for a wide range of co-curricular activities. The school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales in Key Stage 3 leading to Cambridge IGCSE (CIE) in Key Stage 4.  Our students are pleasant and well-motivated and academic standards are high, not least in terms of IGCSE results. Approximately one third of the students are full boarders.

The school sets out to educate students to be rounded individuals with a broad range of co-curricular interests, willing to move outside their comfort zone with a positive outlook on life and strong moral values. There is a keen sporting tradition in the school as well as considerable emphasis on music and drama for which the school has an enviable reputation.  For immediate appointment & 2019 we seek to appoint an able and committed teacher of Geography to cover both Key Stages 3 and 4 to Cambridge IGCSE level. The successful candidate will be an experienced and imaginative practitioner who is fully up to date with current UK practice to include Assessment for Learning and the use of technology in the classroom, an area in which the school is placing increasing emphasis. A willingness to participate fully in the wider life of the school is expected, to include involvement in co-curricular activity and the pastoral care of students. This post arises as the result of continued expansion of the school.

About The Regent Secondary School Abuja

Located in the city of Abuja, Nigeria, the Regent School is a British-style international school first established in 2000. Founded in order to serve the community of British expatriates, the school has around 800 pupils of primary and secondary-school age in a co-educational setting. Admission to the school is conducted via an entrance test. The school primarily follows the British National Curriculum for all students, working towards them studying for the iGCSE in their final two years of school in Years 10 and 11. The school has a large number of local subjects intended to increase the curriculum’s suitability for local students, including Nigerian Studies programmes. To this end, the school offers a diverse range of subjects for students to choose from, supporting them with a range of high-quality teaching and recreational facilities. These include extensive play areas for younger pupils, as well as playing fields and various common areas. The school also maintains numerous high-quality classrooms and a range of IT facilities.
