Teacher of Geography (a Lead Practioner role may be available for an appropriate candidate)

MPS/UPS/Leadership Scale

Commencing January or April 2019

Do you want to join a school that encourages staff to develop and take ownership of their role within the school? Would you like to work in an environment where staff wellbeing is central to our culture and where we support staff at all levels? Are you looking to star in a hilarious staff pantomime or would you want a chance to take pupils out on Duke of Edinburgh trips experiencing the real countryside?

And if so, can you also teach Geography?

Heathcote School is an 11 – 18 School that has a new Headteacher and a new vision. The school is on a rapid journey of improvement to become ‘outstanding’ in all areas. This is an exciting time to be at a school in an unparalleled setting with unlimited potential.  In a recent survey, 96% of staff stated that they enjoy working at this school.

The School Improvement Plan (2017 – 2020) focuses on four key areas:

· Building at all levels an ambitious culture of high challenge and low threat enabling Heathcote to be the school of choice for staff and parents.

· Ensuring the best possible learning and leadership of learning, across the school.

· Ensuring safety is at the heart of everything we do and standards of behaviour and attendance are exemplary within the school and community.

· Giving all pupils equal opportunities to make maximum progress.

We are looking for a qualified, enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Geography to teach across the ability range to GCSE and A Level from January or April 2019.  You will be working with and supported by an experienced team of strong teachers and leaders in a new building. The Geography department is very strong and this is evident in the rapidly improving outcomes of pupils at GCSE and outstanding A Level results. We will also consider applications from candidates interested in a Lead Practitioner role helping to support the Learning and Teaching team to develop the best learning experiences across the curriculum.

We welcome applications from newly qualified or experienced teachers. As an NQT or Beginner Teacher at Heathcote School, you would be supported by experienced colleagues on a range of issues relating to planning, teaching and assessing with a dedicated mentor and a skills development programme that will provide you with the experience required to be a successful practitioner in education.

The school puts well-being and development at the heart of its work and we have very talented staff who are encouraged to grow, develop and work collaboratively, within school and with local schools, and to be the best they can be.  We are continuing our rapid school improvement in a high challenge, low threat way and have robust systems and structures to ensure consistency in all areas, encouraging the growth and development of all. The school has excellent resources and a stunning, spacious site on the edge of Epping Forest including a staff car park and surrounding roads that do not require a parking permit! We are also a 15 minute walk from Chingford Station which has great links into the City.
