Teacher of Guitar

Sarah Bonnell SchoolNewham

Our school values ‘Be Proud, Aim High, Work Hard, Be Kind, No Excuses’ are at the centre of everything we do to maximise girls’ progress, develop their character and promote their emotional health and well-being. We are an oversubscribed girls’ school in East London and offer excellent opportunities for professional development and a great working environment.

The school currently has a vacancy for a peripatetic teacher to teach one-to-one guitar lessons and contribute to our extra-curricular programme. The role is 8 hours of teaching over 2 days per week, 10 weekly sessions per term, and involves running or supporting an extra-curricular club/ensemble.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate with:

  • Experience and expertise in one-to-one and small-group guitar teaching
  • The ability to support ensembles and extra-curricular music
  • The ability to inspire young people from a range of different contexts and backgrounds to high-quality music making
  • The ability to collaborate with the rest of the music team to maximise student progress

Our girls love music and enjoy making the most of opportunities to perform in concerts throughout the year, both in school and around London. The music department has recently moved into brand-new facilities on site, offering students access to high-quality music making. We also work closely with Newham Music Service as well as our partner schools in the Newham Community Schools Trust. We are looking for someone with the initiative, drive and creativity to help us move music forward in exciting new ways.
