Required for February 2018 for this heavily over-subscribed, flourishing and successful 11 – 18 Church of England Academy, an award-winning “Outstanding School” (SIAMS 2016). This year, 78% of Year 11 pupils gained at least 5 GCSE grades A*-C including English and mathematics, and 83% of A-level students gained grades A* - C.
An enthusiastic and committed teacher is sought to teach History, throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to offer A-Level History and/or Classics would be an advantage. This temporary position becomes available due to the present post holder taking maternity leave. The contract will commence from February 2018 and will last for at least the duration of the academic year.
The History Department is very successful and popular. Attainment and progress figures are both significantly above the national average and have been for a number of years. Well over half the year group continue to study History as a GCSE subject. The numbers opting to study History in our ‘outstanding’ sixth form remain strong and a number of students continue to study the subject at prestigious universities.
The school of 1000 pupils, plus a Sixth Form of 300 pupils, is attractively and conveniently situated close to the Ribble Valley and has excellent motorway connections via M65 to M6 and M62.
