Teacher of History - Part Time (0.4-0.5) Fixed Term for One Year September 2018-August 2019
Due to the popularity of history as a GCSE subject we now require additional teachers to support this forward thinking department.
Required from September 2018, an enthusiastic, well qualified, part time (between 0.4/0.5) Teacher of History.
We seek a well qualified and enthusiastic teacher with a commitment to pupils of all ability in a comprehensive secondary school. A willingness to contribute within a team approach to develop the work of the department is essential.
This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced colleague or someone looking to start their career in a supportive and developmental environment.
The department currently consists of four full time colleagues delivering History to students across the school. History is a valued subject at Key Stage 3, with each group receiving two 50 minute lesson per week in Years 7, 8 & 9. GCSE History is a very popular subject, currently with 11 ‘option’ groups within Key Stage 4. Due to an increased number of students opting for GCSE History, this role has become available to expand the department further.
The department is at the heart of the school focus on teaching and learning, with staff making regular contributions to departmental and school wide CPD.
The department is based, appropriately, in one of our older buildings, dating back to 1910. The department is located next to our Learning and Resource Centre and has access to a small office space.
The department has detailed short and long term learning plans, with resources available from our shared google drive. The team are committed to sharing ideas, resources and supporting each other. The department currently offers the EDEXCEL GCSE syllabus, over the past two years, under new leadership, the department has seen an improvement in outcomes and progress for students.
