Job overview

The British International School of Jeddah, Secondary Section, is seeking to add a dynamic, hard-working, professional, passionate and talented teacher of History to our school.

We are looking for like-minded staff who also passionately believe it is their role to contribute beyond their subject area and classroom both pastorally and through after school activities to support our vision of helping students to learn to Live, Lead and Learn.

Our secondary school is an exciting place to work where we are all continually growing so we can go from “good to great”. With an excellent staff community and with parents and students coming to our school because they believe in our holistic education and our vision BISJ is a great place to work.

The Secondary Section curriculum follow a modified UK National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 followed by IGCSE in Years 10 and 11 and then the IBDP in Years 12 and 13. We are ideally looking to add a staff member with experience in at least two of the three curriculum area, however,  we will consider teachers from other curricula, if they are quality educators, as good teaching and learning translates all curriculum.

Please visit our website (bisj.com) or contact the Director (director@conti.sch.sa), if you would like to learn more.

Please note that our status as an International 'community school' permits us to obtain work visas for ‘western nationals’ which also includes NZ, South African and Australian citizens. We also cannot accept teachers with a trailing spouse or teachers over 56 years of age.

About The British International School of Jeddah

The British International School of Jeddah was established in 1977 and provides high quality international education to the expatriate and local community in Jeddah.

The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and British Schools in the Middle East. We are authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

In total, the school has over 1300 students from over sixty countries. Teaching staff are mainly recruited from the United Kingdom, Australasia, North America and locally. The school resides on a pleasant, safe and secure campus with excellent facilities and resources.

The curriculum is designed to provide students with transferable skills and a love of learning.  There is strong support in the Primary School for the use of enquiry based learning through the development of integrated thematic units. These draw the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).

In Years 10 and 11 the curriculum leads to the externally assessed examinations of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), set by Cambridge International Examinations. Post 16 education is based on International Baccalaureate courses, with the majority of students taking the full Diploma course.
