Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and highly motivated teacher of Humanities who will lead by example, support an already successful faculty in achieving its ambitious targets and have the capacity and commitment to raise student achievement even further. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future development of a fast moving Humanities faculty. Potential is as important as experience.

A History specialist would be preferred however a teacher with excellent classroom skills with the ability to teach across the three subjects would be welcome.

At Glebelands School we are looking to recruit someone with the energy and drive to play a key role in our school improvement. We strongly believe that we must all continue learning from each other and will therefore be appointing a high quality individual who is not afraid to take risks and who will always look to improve and share practice with colleagues.

Glebelands is a mixed, 11-16 comprehensive school at the heart of our community in this pleasant area of Surrey. The school is near Guildford and within easy reach of London and the south coast.

In October 2013 Ofsted wrote ‘This is a good school where students have a positive attitude to learning and a relatively high proportion of teaching is outstanding’.

Following a short inspection in November 2017: Ofsted quoted: ‘Leaders take workload into account when implementing policies and procedures so as to avoid placing unnecessary burdens on staff.’

If you are an effective practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students and want to support us on our journey to outstanding we would like to hear from you.

Values and Vision

Glebelands School aims to have an outstanding curriculum that encourages students to be independent academics. It values pupils who respect others, including people in the local community. The school pushes students to work hard to achieve excellent exam results. Staff aim to help every student, by getting to know them as individuals and pushing them to pursue their dreams. Both academic and personal development is valued. Teachers aim to discover the talents and skills each child has.

Ofsted report

“Students’ achievement is good overall. Most teaching is good or better and, as a result, the majority of students make good progress from their starting points. A relatively high proportion of teaching is outstanding. Students’ behaviour around the school and in most classes is good. They respond well to the encouragement of staff and know the importance of the school’s motto ‘respect and achieve’. The school’s senior leaders and governors are totally committed to improving the school. Their passion and determination have brought about significant improvements in achievement, attendance and behaviour. The great majority of students have positive attitudes to learning and enjoy their lessons.”
