Job overview

Location: Central Academy, Carlisle

Central Academy is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

Are you ambitious for all our young people and their life chances? Would you like to benefit from superb professional development opportunities and to work in one of the best equipped schools in the county? If so, then we would be very interested in hearing from you.

We are seeking to recruit a professional and talented Teacher of Humanities, specialising in Geography up to and including A-level, on a permanent basis.

A start date for Easter is envisaged but an earlier start may be negotiable, dependent upon availability.

This is an exciting time to become part of Central Academy. We want you to be part of our professional, supportive and friendly team. Our recent ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection has been positive and given us some further insight into how we can continue to work towards our ambition of becoming an Outstanding school. The full report can be found on our website.

Central Academy is part of the United Learning Group and situated in the city centre of Carlisle, close to the Scottish Borders and the Lake District and we benefit from a £30m new build.

Being part of United Learning, one of the leading school groups in the country, we offer unrivalled career development opportunities and support to ensure you achieve your ambitions. If you’d prefer flexible working, we’ll try to accommodate it; if you need to relocate for this role, we can provide financial assistance; and if you’re currently based overseas, we’ll help with your transition back to the UK. Furthermore, you could be eligible for health care cover and full or part funded CPD during your first year. United Learning has teamed up with ‘Edenred’ to provide employees with a great selection of Flexible Rewards including salary sacrifice schemes and access to hundreds of retail discounts. For more information, please visit www.unitedrewards.org.uk.

United Learning and the Academy are equally ambitious as we strive to bring out ‘The best in everyone’.
