The Hayesbrook School

The Hayesbrook School is a non-selective boys Academy (with a mixed Sixth Form) that specialises in sports and mathematics.

The wide ability school serves the communities of Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas, with all students supported and challenged to reach their own personal excellence.

The school has 763 students on roll.  Our strengths are strong behaviour, examination success and an emphasis upon learning and teaching.  The Hayesbrook School is also renowned for its success in extra-curricular activities and for its support of other school, both locally and nationally.

Our vision is simple – to ensure that all of our students achieve beyond our expectations and flourish as confident learners with the highest aspirations, ready for the university or careers of their choice and also ready for the world in which they will work and live.

Teacher of Humanities (Geography and/or History) – maternity cover

The Humanities Department is a highly effective team committed to collaborative ways of working, mixed-ability teaching, and to providing a wide range of enrichment opportunities at KS3 to KS5.  Geography and History are taught as a discreet subjects at KS3 and are very popular choice at KS4 & KS5.  This year a record 79% of students gained A*-C grades at GCSE and 100% gained a pass at A Level.

The department is a well-resourced environment where creativity and flexibility lead to excellent teaching and a high level of student engagement.  There are clear schemes of work and resources that complement a range of pupil activities, and fieldwork is very much encouraged.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and committed Geography and/or History teacher who is able to teach across the age and ability range and is committed to impacting whole school improvement through their subject.  The ability to offer a second Humanities subject would be seen as a distinct advantage, but is not an essential requirement. We welcome applications from excellent teachers from either subject.

This is a part time, fixed term position to cover maternity leave of the existing post holder, and will commence from January 2018.

You will use your application to demonstrate your skills and experience in relation to the advertised position.
