We are pleased to offer the opportunity to join our ICT and Computer Science Department.  This is an outstanding opportunity to help to shape the future of a highly successful and innovative subject area which offers a range of examination courses throughout KS4 and KS5.  

The department is vibrant and creative and consists of 3 full time members of teaching staff.  Computer Science is highly valued in the school and our students excel. The department has played a key role in the achievements of the school over recent years; our record of exam success has contributed to the school’s continual development.  In the Sixth Form, we offer BTEC Level 3 extended certificate.  At KS4 we deliver GCSEs in Computer Science and ICT.  Computer Science is an extremely popular option at KS4.

The KS3 Curriculum has been redesigned following the introduction of the new curriculum in September 2016.  Students learn the fundamentals of computational abstraction using Scratch, HTML and Python as well as more traditional digital literacy topics.

Accrington Academy has an ICT rich learning environment including, dedicated suites, film studio, radio station and interactive technology in every classroom. The Academy also has outstanding network management ensuring an effective and efficient system maintains outstanding facilities. 

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the wider extra-curricular experiences available at the Academy. 

The preferred candidate will have the ability to motivate and challenge students of all abilities, delivering stimulating and creative teaching to a consistently outstanding level.
