Job overview

ICT at Wilmington Academy has a long history of success. The Learning Area has achieved outstanding results both at GCSE and in a range of courses offered in KS5. Individually, students have achieved outstanding performances in CIDA, BTEC Creative Media and Computer Science examinations at Key Stage 4 and BTEC IT and Creative Media at Level 3.

In our brand new state-of-the-art  IT suites, we will have three fully-equipped specialist learning areas each with a capacity of 30 networked PCs running Windows, a Mac Suite and a Greenroom, as well as 3 other IT classrooms across the site. The Learning Area has three teachers employed full time teaching ICT and Computing. The curriculum at Key Stage 3 has been redesigned recently with considerable success.  Students have access to Scratch, Python, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite including Classroom, HTML and Microbits, as well as opportunities to develop algorithmic and computational thinking skills.

In September 2017, we became an International Baccalaureate World School authorised to deliver IB Diploma Programmes such as IT in a Global Society and we are currently a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme in key stage 3.  This is an exciting cross Trust collaboration with IT specialists working together to co-construct curricula, assessment and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
