Teacher of Learning Support

 At SJII, Learning Suppport Teachers focus on helping students develop the habits and self-management skills needed to succeed in the rigorous academic curriculum. Small group or mentoring support is offered to address study skills and organisational habits. 

The school is searching for a teacher with experience in managing a range of additional learning needs including mentoring students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties; social communication difficulties and a variety of specific learning difficulties. Candidates should be able to offer a flexible and strategic approach to managing students within classes and in withdrawal situations. They need to be able to build and maintain strong effective professional relationships with both students and staff.

Additional Requirements 

For all teaching posts the successful candidates will have a good first degree in their teaching specialism, a recognised teaching qualification and a proven track record as inspirational teachers. The ability to teach across the age and ability range from Grade 7 (12 year-olds) to IB Diploma level is preferred unless a middle school / IB Diploma specialism is specifically stated. Significant training and development opportunities are available for teachers (both in-house and through external providers) and the desire to take part in and contribute to collaborative school and personal development is essential. Our School
Situated on a spacious, leafy campus with impressive facilities, SJI International High School is an independent coeducational Lasallian Catholic day school. Currently in its tenth year, the school has grown steadily and enjoys an outstanding reputation for quality education in Singapore. The school follows a Southern Hemisphere academic year (January to December). The student body numbers some 1040 students (aged 12 - 18), with 390 IB Diploma students in Grades 11 and 12. Academic standards are very high. The average IB Diploma score for our most recent cohort of students was 37.9 points (in 2017), with 42% of our students achieving 40 points or more (a record for the school). Our most recent A*/A pass rate at IGCSE was 72% (38% at A*).
