As a high profile British International School, for children aged 3-18, we focus on developing a growth mindset within our students and staff.
We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher with the ability to teach in all key stages to start in September 2018. The ideal candidate will be someone who teaches for understanding, can think on their feet and who will be able to stretch students as well as be willing to be challenged academically by them.
The department teaches a wide range of courses, and applicants should be able to demonstrate success in all age groups. At Key Stage 3 our teaching programme is topic-based and incorporates problem solving and enquiry based learning. Key Stage 4 examination courses include iGCSE mathematics, GCSE statistics and Additional Mathematics. The subject is extremely popular at Key Stage 5 with often 7 groups of up to 15 students in each choosing to study the International A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics courses at AS level; most of these students will continue to study the subject at A2. There is a significant breadth to the modules we offer at A Level to support the talents of our students.
Classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards and displays and all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry.
The department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including the Cipher Challenge and Theory of Mathematics Clubs. Our students participate in the UK Mathematics Trust as well as the University of Waterloo Challenges. Enrichment activities within the department include celebrating mathematics through Pi Day, Fibonacci lessons and House competitions.
As a Mathematics Teacher, you will be responsible for instilling a passion for mathematics in students, monitoring and evaluating student achievement as well as contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission. The successful candidate will be an outstanding role model within the Mathematics Department and Doha College as a whole.
