Until recently there was no uniform, only a dress code. The Academy, however, is now adopting a uniform and consultation on this is well underway. Also, the school also has a simple approach to rules and standards – it only has 3: Be safe; Help learning and teaching; Consider all others.

The Mathematics faculty is one of the highest attaining faculties in this high attaining school. The full range of certificated classes are offered from S1 to Advanced Higher in S6. Pupils are set from S1 and the emphasis is ensuring all pupils attain to the best of their ability. The faculty is very well resourced and full and effective learning and teaching materials have been developed for all courses. Aside from excellent curricular provision the faculty promote wider curriculum activities including being very successful in competitions such as Stem in the Pipeline, Maths Challenge and Enterprising Maths.
