We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics with responsibility for our whole school numeracy strategy. The successful candidate will be required to teach Mathematics up to KS4.
First and foremost, we require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and who enjoys working in a team. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of our students. The candidate should also have experience of developing strategies to improve numeracy across the school, including catch-up for those making less than expected progress.
A strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential.
Subject knowledge is important, as is an up-to-date knowledge of the latest approaches in the teaching of Mathematics. The successful candidate will thoroughly enjoy teaching their subject and understand the importance of Mathematics in contributing to our students’ wider development.
In return, we offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. Our Mathematics department is among the strongest in Kirklees both in terms of attainment at the end of Key Stage 4 but also in terms of the progress that students make.
