Job overview

About Us

We are proud to base our approach to learning on an “Aspire and Achieve” ethos. We benefit from a strong local reputation which is the reason we have increased our admission number to 410. Our expansion has been facilitated by the acquisition of a third site for our popular Sixth Form in the town centre. This has led to a re-organisation of our students, with Year 7 and Year 8 educated at the Dove Campus and Years 9-11 at the Trent Campus, which are half a mile apart.

We were delighted by our January 2017 Ofsted inspection which emphasised the outstanding aspects of our work, including high levels of progress and attainment. We value our staff team, and this is reflected in the wide range of professional development opportunities which are offered both internally and externally. In recent years, we have developed an international reputation for learning technologies, becoming both an Apple Distinguished School and Regional Training Centre; we provide a 1-to-1 iPad programme for all students in Year 9 - Year 13.

The Department

The Mathematics Faculty is a friendly place to work. The excellent camaraderie amongst staff, as well as the hard work of the students, has helped our students achieve considerable success.

The Faculty, with seventeen qualified mathematics teachers, is at the centre of the innovative practices at the Academy. The curriculum is designed using many principles gleaned from Cognitive Science, whilst an evidence-based approach is used to determine teaching methods where possible. The Faculty also actively engages in research projects; we recently participated in the OECD’s TALIS Video Study as well as several projects with the University of Nottingham.

The Role

You will be highly qualified and able to support in the promotion of excellent standards of student learning, achievement, progress, attainment and behaviour through working effectively and collaboratively. Passionate about your specialist subject, you will seek to positively impact your field and Academy.

We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified Maths teachers. For NQTs, we offer an excellent NQT programme and enhanced employment offer.

In Return

We strive to be an Employer of Choice and are committed to the wellbeing and development of colleagues. You will join a supportive, warm and friendly community and enjoy an excellent benefits package, which includes:

  • Cycle to Work Scheme;
  • Taste Card;
  • discounts for days out, shopping, holidays and much more, with different offers each month;
  • access to a fully fitted fitness suite, located on-site.

The Next Step

All prospective candidates are very welcome to tour our Academy and meet with members of the faculty as well as with our students. We are situated on the rural outskirts of Burton upon Trent, within easy access of Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to the successful candidate. If you wish to join this dynamic Academy, we look forward to hearing from you. Find out more by clicking here
