Sir Jonathan North Community College is a school for girls based in Leicester for students aged 11-16. It is a non-denominational school.

The school has benefited from a £9 million partial re-build as part of the national Building Schools for the Future programme. Therefore, it now has high quality purpose built facilities for each curriculum area.

The school’s facilities include a digital arts centre and a large drama studio based in its De Montfort building. This is one of four distinct buildings spanning the life of the college from 1937 to the present day. It also shares an indoor tennis centre with another school.

Values and vision

Sir Jonathan North Community College aims for its students to achieve the highest possible academic and personal standards, and for them to gain a breadth of knowledge, experience, and skills. The school wants students to respect and support others as well as develop self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-awareness. One of the ways in which it wishes to achieve these things is by having a broad curriculum.

Ofsted

“Teachers provide activities that challenge students, including disabled students and those who have special educational needs, to learn extremely well in lessons and make rapid progress. The school’s areas of specialism, including visual arts, science and mathematics and applied learning, promote particularly high attainment in the visual arts. Students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development is outstanding. There is a relentless pursuit of excellence by the headteacher, senior leaders and governors.”
