Humberston Academy is now recruiting for a Teacher of Mathematics.

We are looking for a Teacher to be part of our successful mathematics department that has performed consistently above national average in all examinations delivered. The department thrives on good humour and teamwork, delivering a knowledge rich curriculum in well-resourced classrooms with a student centred philosopy.

The successful applicant will  be part of a team that has a variety of specialised teachers, all offering support and guidance to each other, which creates a positive and hardworking ethos. They are eager to access the most up to date research and always go above and beyond to ensure all students meet their potential.

Applicants are required to be driven, motivated and enthusiastic to deliver Mathematics up to KS4.

At Humberston Academy we are passionate about providing a traditional curriculum which not only develops life skills but prepares each student for adulthood and a successful career.

Students in the academy show a real enthusiasm for Mathematics and are acutely aware of the link between the subject and the world of work. As a result of this, the successful applicant will be leading a department that achieves results consistently well above national average and strives to maintain this while developing students’ skills and a passion for the subject.

About our Academy

Humberston Academy is an oversubscribed ‘outstanding’ academy located in an affluent area of North East Lincolnshire. As well as being an Ofsted graded outstanding academy, Humberston Academy achieved ‘World Class Schools’ status in December 2019. Humberston Academy continues to deliver incredible opportunities to young people with a specific focus on STEM enrichment and favourable links to the apprenticeships industry as well as traditional route towards higher education.

Humberston Academy has recently been appointed as the Teaching School Hub for the local region which will allow all colleagues to access leading edge career professional development in order to enhance the standard of teaching as well as the opportunity to deliver CPD to colleagues locally in our profession. Furthermore, we are the hub school for the National Mathematics and Physics SCITT which means we have an important role of training Mathematic teachers for the future.

• High standards of teaching and learning

• A good degree in a specialist subject teaching qualification

• Nationally recognised teaching qualification

• High level skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to teach Mathematics across Key Stages 3-4

• A strong classroom teacher, demonstrating ability to innovate

• Understanding of the importance of a knowledge rich Mathematic curriculum

• Able to showcase evidence of the use of technology in teaching and learning

• Be flexible and responsive to a changing educational environment

• Contribute to whole school initiatives

• Committed to working co-operatively with young people; able to communicate sensitively, imaginatively and effectively with them

• Able to communicate effectively with parents to represent the Academy positively and feedback information as appropriate

• Willing to contribute to the professional development regionally as a Teaching Schools Hub and as hub for NMAPS SCITT Hub

• Highly motivated and driven by passion and spirit for the subject

A total of 84% of students at Humberston Academy achieved 4 to 9 in GCSE Maths this summer. In English, the figure was 88%. 82% of students achieved above grade 4 in the combine Maths and English measure. These results once again confirms our place among the top-performing schools in the area.
