You will shape the development of our Maths provision in a new and unique University Technical College. Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC opened in September 2017 in the heart of London’s West End. It is a flagship for technical skills education offering 550 young people between 14 and 19, the opportunity to join a new generation of engineers, designers, technicians and project managers to build Britain’s infrastructure. It is the only central London UTC and its catchment spans the M25.

We are seeking to appoint highly qualified, innovative and inspirational teachers, who are passionate about their subject and who are committed to raising aspirations, and securing sustained progress for all of our students. The post is suitable for an experienced teacher or a leader who is looking to take the lead of a course within the department. Those who require training and who are willing to study for a recognised teaching qualification alongside their teaching practice are also welcome to apply, and will be paid on a separate pay scale.

About Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC

Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC is a Science, Maths, Engineering and Technology specialist school for 14 to 18 year olds. With less than 250 students we have classes comparable to that of the independent sector. Located in a brand new purpose built building we use our exceptional facilities to deliver an excellent and personalised education for all our students. Whilst our core focus is STEM, we deliver a broad and balanced curriculum including English, Humanities and MfL.

Situated close to Victoria tube station we serve students from across London who are passionate about STEM with many students making long commutes to be part of our incredible community. Also served by Sloane Square and Pimlico Tube stations, as well as a number of bus routes, it couldn’t be easier to get to the school or the many local amenities.

Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC operates partnerships with Network Rail, BT, Land Securities, Sir Robert McAlpine, Alstom, Transport for London and the City of Westminster.

Values and vision

The Westminster University Technical College is named after the late Sir Simon Milton, a former London Deputy Mayor for Policy and Planning. The college has built its vision around the importance of diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that accessible education and employment is the expectation of any young person in London. As a UTC, the school will foster a professional atmosphere and encourage self-sufficiency in its students. Study will take place in the classroom as well as on placements, working with partnered employers. 

Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC hopes to inspire future engineers, designers and project managers, preparing them to succeed within their relevant industries.
