Could teaching maths or physics in the UK be for you?

We want the very best teachers teaching the key subjects of Maths and Physics in the south of England.

Whilst we have an outstanding workforce of highly gifted teachers, we would like to welcome international Maths and Physics teachers to join us in this revolution.

Outstanding teachers are in demand across the globe, and the Department of Education is supporting English schools who wish to recruit from overseas, particularly from those countries whose education standards are as high as our own, to capitalise on the wealth of experience and high quality expertise that qualified teachers from other countries can bring to English classrooms.

How do I know if I am eligible?

Do you meet the teaching qualification requirement?

To be a qualified teacher in England, you will need to gain qualified teacher status (QTS). Although not mandatory for all schools, evidence shows that most schools hire teachers who hold QTS, or are working towards QTS.

Are you eligible to teach in the UK?

If you are qualified to teach in the European Economic Area (EEA), Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, find out how you can apply for QTS in England here

If you are from outside the EEA, you may need to apply for a UK visa. There are different types of visas, each with its own eligibility criteria. Did you know, for example, that secondary teachers in maths, physics and chemistry are currently considered ‘shortage occupations’ by the Home Office? This means that if you teach these subjects it will be easier for a school to sponsor you for a Tier 2 work visa.
