Job overview

About the role: Stationers' Crown Woods Academy are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Maths who will join and strengthen the department as soon as possible - a brand new role for our maths team providing an additional resource, collectively distributing the workload of the department from the get go.  Whilst this role is suitable for teachers ranging from their NQT year to many years' experience in the profession, we are seeking to appoint an individual who can build rapport with our students and motivate them in the subject.  Please note that this teaching position will be timetabled in accordance with the successful candidate's key strengths and will include key elements of intervention.  This role can be offered on a full or part time basis to suit the requirements of our successful candidate; we are fortunate in that we have flexibility in the timetable to accommodate this. We have every intention of extending this position past July 2018 if mutually agreeable by both parties.

Upon joining the maths team at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, our successful applicants will be a part of a department who embrace the latest developments in mathematics teaching and are committed to promoting the joy, beauty and power of mathematics to our young people. The maths team have a variety of backgrounds and experiences and we aim to utilise the collective knowledge and skills to offer outstanding levels of support for our students. We encourage collaboration, debate and discussion both within our team and in our classrooms and strongly believe that this culture has led to the excellent track record of success in maths.

We are committed to ensuring that all of students make excellent progress regardless of starting points. Over the last four years the proportions of students at the academy securing A*-C in maths has exceeded national averages and are now working hard to ensure that our most able students secure the highest grades.

We are fully committed to CPD and ensuring that our teachers have the most up to date knowledge of the curriculum. We feel it is our responsibility to ensure that members of the team feel supported, guided and hence are able to do their job to the best of their ability. At KS3 we are working on the development of an exciting KS3 maths curriculum based on mastery and problem solving and will involve us working with external agencies such as UKMT; we feel that this approach will merge beautifully with the reformed qualifications at KS4.

Mathematics is very popular in the sixth form and there is a large uptake of the subject at AS and A-level in both Maths and Further Maths; we have now also introduced core maths as part of the curriculum offer.

Through our subject, we embrace and promote the core values of the academy:

  •             Respect
  •             Inclusion
  •             Family
  •             Collaboration
  •             Perseverance
