Job overview

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is at the forefront of maths education, both in terms of ensuring students are taught maths for deep understanding and in enabling every student to leave school with a maths qualification that opens doors for them. As well as developing a curriculum that allows for this we have also created a training and support programme for teachers to enable them to feel confident in facilitating this for all students.

Our Senior Director of Maths, Kathryn Greenhalgh, leads Yorkshire and the Humber MathsHub. This, as well as her work with the DfE, means that OGAT maths departments are helping to inform the development and mould the landscape of mathematics both regionally and nationally.

We have a great training package for teachers new to the Trust from NQTs through to HODs which includes: Teaching for Mastery; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; Reasoning at KS3; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education. We invest in you so you invest in our students.

There is currently a teacher position available in the Scunthorpe region and we would welcome applications to the Trust from teachers of any experience who love maths and have a passion to develop this in others. You could progress quickly across our Family of Schools if that is what you were looking for, through maths leadership or through our Deeps structure; but, if you just want to be the best maths teacher you can be, then we are also the Trust for you!

If you require any further information about this post please contact Kathryn Greenhalgh, Senior Director Maths at k.greenhalgh@outwood.com.

Closing date: Midday on 17 October 2018.

Interview date: 19 October 2018.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

We are an Ofsted “Outstanding” rated 11-16 Academy based in the friendly, North Lincolnshire town of Scunthorpe. With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic abilities equally. The Ofsted report from our Inspection during November 2022 states “Staff and pupils at Outwood Academy Foxhills work, earn and excel together. This is an Outstanding school.”

Part of the Outwood Family since 2014, we are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on ensuring everyone has the right to learn, with a curriculum designed to stretch and enrich our students’ experience.

Since joining the Outwood Family, we have embarked on a journey of transformation.

We have won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award with Centre of Excellence status, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

Our progress is a testament to the dedication and passion of our colleagues who have helped inspire our students, working closely with parents and carers.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

If you share our vision, join our family.
