Teacher of Maths– MPS, Full Time, Permanent Contract

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join a successful and forward thinking convertor academy. Required from September 2019, we wish to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Teacher of Maths with the ability to teach at both Key Stages 3 and 4.

Longdendale High School is a successful and popular comprehensive 11-16 academy set at the edge of the Peak District on the border of Tameside and Derbyshire. We have a current intake of 800 students with cohorts typically above the national average in terms of prior attainment. Our Ofsted inspection in November 2015 recognised the excellent provision and opportunities our students are offered in all areas of the curriculum, and the school was judged to be ‘Good with Outstanding features’. This is clearly a fantastic achievement we are currently building on and the successful candidate will play a key role in our continuing journey to outstanding as we work relentlessly to ensure all students are supported to achieve their full potential and flourish in all aspects of school life. Longdendale is a highly innovative and successful school, with a strong vision for ongoing improvement.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to our Maths team to support the development of the curriculum and teaching experience in lessons to ensure that all students achieve at least their target grade on the Aspire Pathway. As Teacher of Maths, the successful candidate will work to provide outstanding learning opportunities and instil a love of learning. The successful applicant will join a thriving, high performing, well-resourced department and a staff of highly committed professionals who are passionate about raising standards and learning outcomes for all students.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop your own career in a challenging, innovative and highly supportive secondary environment. We will invest in you and provide you with the best resourcing and a personal programme of professional development and improvement.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Appointment is subject to satisfactory enhanced status checks from the Disclosure and Barring Service.  The school promotes equal opportunities.

A mathematics early-career payments pilot has been reintroduced for teachers starting their initial teacher training (ITT) in the 2018-19 or 2019-20 academic year. This is in addition to the bursary or scholarship during ITT. Tameside is listed as a priority area and therefore these payments would apply to any NQTs working in Longdendale High School from September onwards.  This full guidance can be found:
