Job overview

St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2016) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Maths. This vacancy is a unique opportunity; for a newly qualified teacher this would provide an excellent start to your teaching career, whilst for more experienced colleagues there are varied further development opportunities and rewards available.

As a teacher of Maths, you’ll be joining an experienced group of qualified practitioners who very much work as a team with a friendly, sharing culture. This is a consistently well performing department, Maths results were the most improved in Walsall in 2017 with 66% achieving grade 4 and above in 2017 and 2018. Maths is enjoyed by students across all year groups and is a popular choice at A-level.

The department benefits from bespoke CPD opportunities ran by post holders and external visitors. Colleagues regularly make the most of opportunities offered through PiXL, the Maths Hub, and MEI. For the right candidate there is opportunity to manage part of the curriculum with TLR’s being negotiable.

In return our school can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a culture of openness and transparency. We value highly the wellbeing of all our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. You’ll also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you, training linked to NPQML and NPQSL and further CPD supported by the diocese and local SCITT providers. Teachers flourish at St Thomas More, and we offer fantastic career advancement for teachers at all levels.

St Thomas More Catholic School is a very special place. Students are friendly, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students. If you have a passion for Maths and a commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best, we want to hear from you!
