St Thomas More is a very popular and successful Catholic school which opened a new Sixth Form in September 2011. The sixth form students are taught in a £6 million purpose built building. We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational teacher of Maths to teach throughout the school with the ability to teach up to and including ‘A’ level as desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-resourced and experienced Maths department in which 82% of students achieved a grade A*-C at GCSE level in 2016. Large numbers of students have opted to study Maths at ‘A’ level and recent AS results place us in the top 5% of providers.

Are you ambitious, inspiring and forward thinking? Would you like to join our friendly, family orientated community? Are you committed to raising pupil achievement? If so please contact us for an application pack.

All interested candidates are most welcome to telephone the school to arrange an informal visit.

We would welcome any express of interest by email to Mr D Ireland, Head of Maths Department on Ireland.d@st-thomas-more.net in the first instance during summer holidays or prior to the summer holidays please email admin@st-thomas-more.net.

Values and vision

Christian values are emphasised throughout the school’s curriculum. St Thomas More aims to provide every student with an outstanding education so they can succeed in later life. Teachers seek to provide diverse learning opportunities in a Catholic context.

The school aims to foster a feeling of community, encouraging all pupils to treat each other with care and respect, and to become mature, responsible members of society. These ideals are often reflected in the activities the students take part in, such as collecting food for the homeless.

Ofsted report

"The majority of students make good progress in both their academic and personal development. The school has a track record of high pass rates in examinations and of students making good progress. Teaching and learning are good in all areas of the school and some teaching is outstanding. Teachers are enthusiastic and display excellent subject knowledge, and students are interested and learn well as a result."
