Teacher of Maths with Leadership Opportunity

Outwood Academy BishopsgarthStockton-on-Tees

Are you an experienced Mathematics teacher seeking a leadership opportunity? If so, then this is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher of Maths to join our amazing team and take on some additional leadership responsibilities. We are offering a two-year temporary TLR payment of £2,500 with the hopes of making this permanent as our Academy grows and student intake increases.

With a proud tradition of serving the community of Stockton-on-Tees, Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is a medium-sized school with a big heart. We are part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, one of the highest performing Trusts in the country.

Our vision is to put students first in order to raise standards and transform lives. To make this happen, we innovate constantly, including a vertical curriculum centring on exceeding age related expectations in Years 7 and 8 and a three-year Key Stage 4, aimed at personalising learning. Fast-track opportunities and workshops provide accelerated routes for students, where appropriate. In other cases additional teaching time and resources are provided to ensure students leave with a solid foundation of good and better grades.

With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic talent equally and focus on building transferable skills that result in real-world success. We are also an ‘enhanced mainstream school’ providing an outstanding education for young people with physical and/or sensory needs.

In particular, we aim to instil British Values: a passion for democratic participation, individual liberty, mutual respect, and difference and diversity, backed by a commitment to taking responsibility for one’s own conduct and progress. By empowering students to take ownership of their learning, we can create tomorrow’s leaders as well as responsible, caring and engaging citizens. Outwood Grange Academies Trust is at the forefront of maths education, both in terms of ensuring students are taught maths for understanding, and in enabling every student to leave school with a maths qualification that opens doors for them. We have a curriculum that allows for this and the training and support for teachers to feel confident to facilitate this for all.

We have great training opportunities for teachers new to the academy including: Teaching for Mastery; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; Reasoning at KS3; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education. We invest in you, so you invest in our students.

In line with Government guidance, we are currently limiting access to our academy. In some instances, we may use remote processes in place of academy-based interviews and therefore we have set up systems to ensure that alternative options are available via skype/video conferencing wherever possible. Every effort will be made to try and accommodate any specific requirements so that no-one is at a disadvantage. If you would like a conversation about either the academy or the position, please contact Jacki Tyerman at j.tyerman@bishopsgarth.outwood.com.
