Wollaston School is a large, rural community school located in a village setting about 15 minutes drive from Northampton. The student intake draws on nearby villages and the towns of Earls Barton, Wellingborough, and Irchester. We have over 1400 students on roll with approximately 240 students in the Sixth Form. The school is over-subscribed. Wollaston School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in April 2017.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher who is able to teach media at A-Level and English throughout the school.
The successful candidate will be well-qualified & have a passion for their subject. In this key role you will contribute to the leadership of media and help shape its delivery, ensuring that the curriculum supports our most able students in achieving the very top grades but also that it is accessible for everyone that chooses it at A level.
The role will be to develop teaching and learning of the highest quality and to support other staff, developing their expertise in the delivery of media. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in the delivery of media at A-Level and English in KS3 and KS4.
Media is currently offered at KS5 only. For Key Stage 3 English; students have four 50-minute lessons each week. At GCSE, all students take both English Language and English Literature at GCSE. Both of these subjects are also offered at Key Stage 5. The faculty has consistently produced some of the best results in Northamptonshire over the last five years, with over 88% of students achieving grade 4 in English at GCSE in 2019 and 23% achieving a grade 7 or above. In the Sixth Form, English and Media Studies have been popular subject options and several students go on to do English related courses at university each year.
